    Description

Very rare and original, ca1890’s Pair of Native American Sioux Indian Bead Decorated Buffalo Hide Moccasins.
This beautiful Pair of 19th century Sioux Moccasins each measure approx. 7 3/4" long at their soft hide, replacement soles. The decoration is exceptionally beautiful with a stylized tepees and traditional, geometric designs to the uppers executed in colors of red, cobalt blue, medium blue, forest green, greasy yellow and chalk white. The Moccasins are sinew sewn and feature contiguous cuffs and have lost their applied tongues. The soles of both Moccasins have been replaced with a soft, 20th century, brain tanned hide. The upper edge of the cuffs is trimmed with the original red trade cloth.
The Moccasins offered here are unconditionally guaranteed original and of the period. They are NOT reproductions or modern recreations but original Sioux Moccasins crafted in the late 19th century. The Moccasins come with our “no questions asked” return privilege and our lifetime guarantee of authenticity. They are guaranteed to be deemed authentic, original and as described by any qualified third party authentication service.
This rare and original, Pair of ca1890’s Sioux Bead Decorated Moccasins display nicely but are in good condition only. As stated above the soles have been replaced and the Moccasins have lost their applied tongues. There are some short tears to the hide at the junctions of the cuffs and the vamps as can be seen in the scans below. The beadwork is very beautiful and generally well preserved with some scattered loss to both Moccasins. The surface of the beads is soiled and a gentle, careful cleaning will significantly improve the look of this outstanding pair of Sioux Moccasins.
A very rare and original, Pair of ca1890’s Native American Sioux Indian Bead Decorated Hide Moccasins and, with all faults, still a fantastic addition to any collection!!!

    Important Notes about Shipping Charges:
The amount quoted for Shipping & Handling is calculated by eBay and is equal to the EXACT amount charged by the Post Office plus a .00 "packing fee" - the .00 fee is our only compensation for the virgin packing materials we use on all of our professionally packaged boxes as well as our cost for the salaried help that does most of our packing - as I am sure you can see, we make NO profit on the Shipping charges and, in fact, our costs are usually greater than the .00 fee. Please contact us if there are any issues regarding the cost of shipping.
