Description
Very rare and original, ca1890's Pair of Native American Sioux Indian Bead Decorated Ceremonial Hide Moccasins – fully beaded with beaded soles. This original Pair of late 19th century Sioux Moccasins each measure approx. 7 1/2" long at their beaded hide sole. The decoration features checkerboard, stylized tepee and pony track elements executed using chalk white, cobalt blue, dark blue, red white-heart, greasy yellow and pea green colored beads. These wonderful Sioux Indian Moccasins are sinew sewn and they feature simple contiguous cuffs and applied tongues.
The soles of these Moccasins were originally fully beaded but both soles are damaged with loss to both the hide and the beadwork. Both Moccasins have been fully lined with a soft, brain tanned hide in order to stabilize the damage to the original hide and restore the shape to these beautiful Moccasins (see the scans below).
The Moccasins offered here are unconditionally guaranteed original and of the period. They are NOT reproductions or modern recreations but original Sioux Moccasins crafted in the fourth quarter of the 19th century. The Moccasins come with our “no questions asked” return privilege and our lifetime guarantee of authenticity. They are guaranteed to be deemed authentic, original and as described by any qualified third party authentication service.
This very rare and very beautiful, Pair of ca1890's Sioux Fully Bead Decorated Hide Moccasins display nicely but are in good condition only. As stated above, both Moccasins have lost portions on their hide soles along with the beadwork that covered that hide. There is also damage to the hide of the upper of the left hand Moccasin and there is other scattered loss to the beadwork as can be seen in the scans below. As also stated above, both Moccasins were fully lined a long time ago with a brain tanned hide liner in order to stabilize the original hide substrate and to allow the Moccasins to retain their shape for display. This repair / restoration has done a very good job of stabilizing the Moccasins and allows them to be displayed as can be seen in the scans below.
A very rare and beautiful, ca1890's Pair of Native American Sioux Indian Bead Decorated Ceremonial Hide Moccasins – fully beaded with beaded soles and, with all faults, still a fantastic addition to any collection!!!

Important Notes about Shipping Charges:
The amount quoted for Shipping & Handling is calculated by eBay and is equal to the EXACT amount charged by the Post Office plus a .00 "packing fee" - the .00 fee is our only compensation for the virgin packing materials we use on all of our professionally packaged boxes as well as our cost for the salaried help that does most of our packing - as I am sure you can see, we make NO profit on the Shipping charges and, in fact, our costs are usually greater than the .00 fee. Please contact us if there are any issues regarding the cost of shipping.
