Description
Navajo weaver Amy N. Begay created this wonderful pictorial. The stunning feature of the rug is the train that was created by Amy to honor her father, Ashini Nez. He worked on the railroad during it's construction in the American Southwest. The train consists of one, possibly two engines that are pulling a coal car. The coal car has the initials "USA" woven into it's side. The pictorial section of the rug includes a band of larger mountains with three smaller bands of mountains or perhaps hills. There is
a fringe of tufted mohair along the bottom 8 1/2" of the rug. The rug is 40 1/2" long (including the mohair tufting) and is 32" wide. The mohair tufts are an old weaving style and were tied to saddle blankets that Amy tells were spectacular when horses were running across the desert. The colors in the rug include grey, tan, burgundy, off white and turquoise. Please check out the other Native American Art I am listing on eBay now.
