Description
DESCRIPTION:A rare original Navajo Second Phase Chief's blanket from the late Classic Period, made approx. 150 years ago! This wonderful second phase Chief's blanket features the traditional striped designs which are accented with rectangular blocks. The colors are a white background with dark brown stripes with indigo blue and red accents
(there was a dye test done by the well-known expert, David Wenger, and he found both cochineal and synthetic dye present).
The red has faded a bit with age, while the other colors remain stronger. This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of history!
MAKER: An unknown Navajo weaver.
APPROX. AGE: Circa 1860s to 1870s.
SIZE: Measures approx. 50 inches wide X 57 inches long.
CONDITION: Pretty good for its age, some wear and fading expected. Please look closely at the pictures as they are an important part of our description and are hereby incorporated into the description, specifically with regards to condition.
This is an awesome and collectible Chief's Blanket that would go perfect in your collection and it will look super on display in your home or office!
